Manila City, Philippines– Equicom Services, Inc. (EquiServe) demonstrated its commitment to community service through an inspiring outreach program at Hospicio De San Jose last September 19, 2024. In line with EquiServe’s core values, the company embraces “Malasakit,” extending compassion not only to clients and customers but also to those in need, especially the elderly individuals who have been abandoned and are now under the shelter’s protection.
EquiServe employees eagerly participated in an outreach program at Hospicio De San Jose, engaging in heartfelt activities with the elderly residents. Volunteers dedicated their time interacting with the Lolos and Lolas, offering comfort and companionship to those in need of care and empathy. The program also included the donation of essential supplies,. that targets to help a total of 50 elderly residents. .
“Participating in this kind of event helps us, as employees, to strengthen our compassion and Malasakit towards the elderly residents of Hospicio de San Jose. It allows us to experience a sense of fulfillment both personally and professionally, nurturing a purpose that extends beyond the workplace. It also reinforces EquiServe’s core value of Malasakit, helping us foster genuine care and respect not only for our clients and co-workers but also for others outside the organization”, said Ms. Jovie Balla, Senior Human Resource Specialist of EquiServe.
Program
The program kicks off with EquiServe introducing the outreach initiative, hosted by Ms. Balla. Following the introduction, an employee from EquiServe takes the floor to serenade the Lolos and Lolas, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere that fosters connection and community spirit. Afterward, EquiServe volunteers served delicious snacks “Meryendas” to our elderly residents, encouraging camaraderie and fostering a sense of belonging among everyone present.
As the outreach event ended, both volunteers and residents expressed their gratitude for the experience. The elderly residents expressed their gratitude by singing a song, while the volunteers left with a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment. EquiServe remains dedicated to giving back to the community through ongoing outreach programs, with the goal of building stronger connections and creating a lasting, positive impact on those in need.
A Successful One
The genuine smiles and laughter from the elderly residents during the interactions were clear signs of the success of this event.
